The area around Ruegen is probably one of the regions with the most fish in all of Europe. The main fish species are cod, herring, mackerel, sea trout and flatfish in the open Baltic Sea. You mainly fish for pike, perch and zander in the Bodden waters. There are also fish species that only come close to the coast to mate or spawn. The garfish is the best-known representative of this species.

The rapeseed bloom is a well-known feature of garfish season.

To fish you need a valid fishing license and a fishing permit. In the area of the Southeast Ruegen biosphere reserve, separate fishing permits are required in individual sections. 

In addition, fish protection areas, spawning protection areas, winter camps, closed seasons, minimum sizes and bag limits to note.

If you have prepared yourself accordingly, you will hardly go home as a "tailor".
